Welcome to Performance Prep Week!

GENERAL INFO

MISSION

We are looking forward to an amazing performance season with our Arts Fam. We love seeing our students shine on stage by using their gifts to glorify God and showcase their hard work.

Performing is a vital part to the arts. It is beautiful to see the confidence it builds in our students as they perform in front of an audience and create bonds with their friends.

Performances come with lots of excitement! With many moving parts of a production, it takes a number of volunteers, preparation, and communication for things to run smoothly.

Our goal is to keep our communication as stream-lined as possible during this time. Please refer to this webpage for guidance.

● Students should arrive in full hair, makeup, and costume.

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT

● Upon arrival for shows and dress rehearsal, please check in at the lobby. Check-out will also be in the lobby, after your student’s rehearsal/show concludes.

● Once you check your child in, you will be given an ID badge. We have hundreds of awesome families in our Arts Fam, but our volunteers will not know each parent. Older students, ages 16 and up, are allowed to check themselves in and out without a parent. Students may not leave in between shows or during rehearsals.

● Note for Dress Rehearsal:

If your child is only in one rehearsal block, a parent is required to stay with them (unless your student drove themselves).

If your child is in more than one rehearsal block, parents have the option to leave after check-in and return at check-out.

HAIR

Hair: Slicked back, low bun with middle part. See photo for reference.

MAKEUP

Makeup (women): Basic stage makeup, including foundation/concealer/powder, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, eyebrows, mascara, and red lip stain (we recommend Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick). See photo for reference. We ask that it is a lip stain instead of lipstick so that it does not transfer onto the costume.

COSTUMES

● For a wrinkle-free costume, be sure to steam prior to arriving at dress rehearsal/performance.

● Please do not allow your student to wear their costume before dress rehearsal/performance.

● Please do not allow your child to eat in costume. Bring an extra set of clothes for before and after the performance and a cover-up.

● Please be sure to check for all items needed before leaving the house. This includes costume items, tights, accessories, shoes, and hair and makeup supplies.

● It's best to bring a small laundry basket to gather items that would spill out of a bag.

● Please label shoes, laundry basket, and other items to ensure you go home with your belongings.

PHOTOS

There will be a photographer on-site at Luther Auditorium during dress rehearsal. After your student finishes their rehearsal, they will have the option to have a photo taken by a professional photographer (Emma Castor at EGC Snaps). Pricing is a flat fee of $40/student for 2-3 images per costume and full access to download the photos on an online gallery.
